Welcome to my street trash collection!
Below, you'll find my collection of stuff I've found on the street. The oldest find I still own is from 2012. The rest are from around 2020 to the present.
My main interest is to collect an entire deck of cards, but I tend to pick up anything that looks interesting.

Playing Cards
Artifact 1
Front
Back
Description: 3 of Spades card with art missing. In its place, a dirty, crumpled mess.
Found: Spring 2020. 28th Street West. Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Impressions: This was the first card I found. I was walking the neighborhood with my husband. The gasp I gasped could be heard from space as I snatched it from the wet, muddy sidewalk.
Artifact 2
Front
Back
Description: Jack of Diamonds with art missing. In its place, a dirty, crumpled mess.
Found: Spring 2020. 28th Street West. Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Impressions: Judging by condition, this card is almost definitely from the same deck as the 3 of Spades. However, I found them weeks apart around the same area. I didn't see any other cards at the time. Now knowing my quest to find a deck of playing cards, my husband was happy for me (but still bemused) as I scooped it up.
Artifact 3
Front
Back
Description: 6 of Diamonds card with blue and white Canterbury Park art. Round hole punched near center.
Found: June 2024. Target entrance. Crystal, Minnesota.
Impressions: My husband pointed this out to me as we left Target.
Artifact 4
Front
Back
Description: 10 of Diamonds card with blue and white Canterbury Park art. Round hole punched near center.
Found: June 2024. Target parking lot. Crystal, Minnesota.
Impressions: This was found on the same day as the 10 of Diamonds. There were several cards scattered around the entrance and parking lot. This one was outside. I felt that two cards from the same deck was enough, so I left the rest behind.
Artifact 5
Front
Back
Description: Joker card with red back.
Found: August 2024. Columbia Heights, Minnesota.
Impressions: I found this face down in the shoe section of the Columbia Heights Savers. No other cards were around, so I felt it was fair game as a find. No, I did not pay for it.
Artifact 6
Front
Back
Description: 7 of Spades card with with blue and white art. Worn, with peeling corners on front and back.
Found: November 6, 2024. The far reaches of a government building in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Impressions: My husband found this at work, in a place no one would ever find anything. I probably shouldn't disclose the exact location on the internet, but the circumstances of the find make it one of my favorites ever.
Game Pieces
Artifact 1
Front
Back
Description: Wild UNO card.
Found: July 2024. Downtown Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Impressions: My husband picked this up for me.
Artifact 2
Car
Cat
Dog
Duck
Hat
Penguin
Description: Silver pieces from a Monopoly game. All are mostly intact, with some nicks and scratches. The car is in the worst shape. It's smooshed.
Found: Spring 2020. 28th Street West. Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Impressions: I found this pile of Monopoly pieces in the street, so I'm counting them all as one artifact. I found them not far from where I found my first playing cards, though near a different intersection. They were also found on different days. I wonder if someone threw a bunch of games out of their window or something.
Artifact 3
Dice
Description: A pair of white six-sided dice with black markings. They're a bit chewed up from the road. Not sure if the damage would affect the odds.
Found: Spring 2020. 28th Street West. Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Impressions: I believe these belong with the Monopoly game pieces. I found them in the same area, but on separate weeks.
Other Items
Artifact 1
Front
Back
Description: A silver rhino that comes apart. Hollow space in the middle. A hiding place?
Found: 2018. South Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Impressions: I had driven somewhere with my coworkers. When I got out of the car, I found this rhino in the grass. I couldn't resist keeping it.
Artifact 2
Front
Back
Description: A moody scene on a postcard for the Minneapolis restaurant moto-i. Sadly, the back has no message.
Found: 2021. South Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Impressions: Found this near an apartment building on a street south of Hennepin Avenue.
Artifact 4
Squid Card
Description: A squid swims along the ocean floor. The number 18 sits in both upper corners. The back is blank white.
Found: 2022. South Minneapolis.
Impressions: Found this on a sidewalk outside of an aprtment building somewhere in South Minneapolis, Minnesota. What is it for? What does it mean!?
Artifact 5
Psychic Flyer
Description: A card advertising the psychic services of Charlotte. There is a phone number on the card, which I have blanked out.
Found: 2012. Memphis, Tennessee.
Impressions: I went to Memphis with two friends during my college spring break in 2012. Not sure why we chose Memphis, but it ended up being a nice time. We did not see Charlotte, which I regret.
